One of the individuals who was instrumental in helping build the Age Management Medicine Conference made a triumphant return at this year's Las Vegas event, where he was presented with the Alan P. Mintz, M.D. Award for Excellence in Age Management Medicine.
Joseph McWherter, M.D. served as Chairman of the AMMG Planning Committee when AMMG began its conferences in 2006 and for several of those early years. "Dr. McWherter was an important part of AMMG," said Greg Fillmore, Co-Founder and Conference Director. "He was instrumental in guiding our curriculum and ethical approach to medical education for physicians." Dr. McWherter becomes the fifth recipient of the Alan P. Mintz Award. He was presented with the award on the morning of Friday, November 4th by last year's recipient, Dr. Derrick DeSilva.
As an innovator in the fields of women’s health and age management, Dr. McWherter’s approach to health care addresses the need for an increased awareness of using preventive measures to avoid diseases such as breast cancer. Dr. McWherter is on the forefront of natural hormonal replacement therapies as well as functional and nutritional medicine. He has developed a unique approach to the health issues facing the contemporary woman. Dr. McWherter’s “lifetime wellness” protocol stresses detoxification of the body, balancing the hormones, reinforcing the immune system, and adjusting the diet to provide the body with proper nutrition. His program allows women to experience the life-enhancing benefits of hormonal replacement safely while avoiding their number one fear, breast cancer.
Dr. McWherter received his undergraduate degrees in physics and mathematics in 1973 from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, he was awarded a medical degree in 1977 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1981. Dr. McWherter is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and holds memberships in the American College for Advancement in Medicine, the American Academy of Anti-Aging, and the Endocrine Society. In addition to being a diplomat of the American Board of Chelation Therapy and the Board of Oxidative Medicine, he was also past chairman of the peer-review planning committee and speaker for the Integrative Medicine for Anti-Aging Conference and Exposition. As Medical Director of the FEM Centre and Energy Health Centre Clinics in Colleyville and Fort Worth, Texas, he has helped thousands of women find optimal health and wellness through hormonal balancing.
